GENERAL INFORMATION WITH REGARDS TO THE LODGE

BOOKING PROCEDURES

A deposit will be required before any reservation can be confirmed as follows:

§  50 % deposit within 7 days to confirm the booking.

§  Full Payment needed 30 days prior to arrival.

CANCELLATION POLICY

§  Should a cancellation be received 30 days prior to arrival, you will forfeit 50 % of the monies paid to date.

§  Should a cancellation be received less than 30 days prior to arrival, you will forfeit 100 % of monies paid to date.

Should we be able to re-sell the stand / room / chalet, the cancellation fee will be waived, however a 25 % handling fee will be charged. PLEASE ONLY IF WE GET THE DEPOSIT FROM THE NEW CLIENT

BEFORE DEPARTURE

§  South African Passport Holders no longer require Visas.  Foreign Passports do require Visas.

Note :         1)   The validity of your passport should be at least 6 months.

2)     Visas are now available at the border – PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PRICE IS HIGH        

§  Vehicle registration papers are required.  If not registered in your name, obtain a letter of authorization for you to drive the vehicle and take it into Moçambique.

§  A letter from your Insurance Company allowing your vehicle to cross the border is now required at the Border.

§  If your vehicle is still being financed a letter from your Bank allowing your vehicle to cross the border is required.

§  VERY IMPORTANT

A valid driver’s license must be carried on your person

AT THE BORDER

ON THE SOUTH AFRICAN SIDE

Complete a vehicle temporary export document, have it stamped and then proceed to immigration with your passports.  Always add more days onto the actual amount of days that you will be in Mozambique for. The reason for this is if you exceed the amount of days that you have indicated of your Import document, you will be fined 

ON THE MOÇAMBICAN SIDE

Proceed to immigration with your passports and pay ± R17-00 per person Tourism Tax, now proceed to customs desk, present your temporary export permit and pay ± 30 Meticais (± R10-00).

Very Important – buy 3rd Party Insurance (± R150-00) at the insurance desk. PLEASE
An additional payment to be made of R80-00 for any trailer linked to a vehicle.
 

The Custom Officials are also very strict on the amount of alcohol you take with you.

1 case of beer/ Cold drink and 1 bottle (750ml of Hard tack) per person.

EN ROUTE

§  In the event of an accident you will be required to present your 3rd Party Insurance, a valid drivers’ license and vehicle papers.  You will
also be required to make a statement at the nearest Police Station.

§  Radar Speed traps are common in the small villages – obey the speed limits – always wear your safety belts (front and rear).

§  If towing you need to display a blue and yellow triangle on the front of the vehicle.

§  Take a tyre compressor and pressure gauge – in soft sand, deflate your tyres to ± 1 bar (vehicle and trailer).  The resort has a garage compressor available – when you drive on the beach please make sure that you tyres are the right pressure.

AT THE RESORT

§  Everybody must register at Reception.  Please present all your passports and booking form on arrival.

§  The water is drinkable – please use sparingly!  Please when washing of your boat take other people in to consideration with regards to your water usage.

§  Maritime Authorities visits the Resort on a regular basis and you are expected to pay launching fees for any boat.  Enquire at Maritime Office on the Beach.

§  Access to the beach for 4 x 4 vehicles is permitted only within the demarcated area.  Driving on the beach beyond the markers is strictly forbidden and subject to substantial fines. 

§  No motorbikes, quads or micro lights are allowed on the resort or on the beach. Quad bikes are also not permitted in the whole Praia de Zavora Area or on the premises of any of the other Resorts. Quads are only allowed inland.

§  Launching and beaching of boats will only be allowed in the demarcated area and vehicles and trailers have to be parked in the parking area.

§  Speed limit at the Resort is 10 km/h.

§  Drivers of vehicles must please keep to the public roads and may not drive at random on the property or farms of local landowners.

§  Zavora Lodge runs on generator power from 7:00 – 12:00 am and then from 15:00 – 21:00 pm.

§  All fish must be cleaned at the fish cleaning area on the beach and not at the Resort.

§  Male servants and domestic workers are available at reasonable daily rates – please do not employ any person without informing reception.

Fuel Stops:

  1. You need to fill up at Komatipoort before you reach the Border or Maputo.

  2.  Next Stop is Xai-Xai about 200km from Maputo. (2nd BP petrol Station is the better choice).

  3. Next stop is Inharrime about 100km from the Resort (±200 km from Xai-Xai).

  4. Inharrime is the last Petrol Station.
